Why do I need a professional portrait?

Here are some facts for you:

  • People searching for you online make their minds up about who you are based on your profile.
  • The single most important factor in your profile is your head shot.
  • People make a decision on whether or not they like you within 100 milliseconds.

Having professional images across all your social media platforms and on your business cards will greatly increase your chances to connect with the best clients and help with your branding. Professional photography is an investment in your business and/or your personal brand.

How much does it cost?

The cost is £35 for one image or £50 for two images. That includes the photo-session and e-mailed high resolution file(s). To secure your slot, £35 must be paid in advance.

Where does it take place?

mapABL Photography studio is located at 38 Springfield Park, Twyford RG10 9JH.

There are usually parking spaces on Springfield Park, but if you have any troubles, just ring Asya on 07793937192.

How long will the session last?

Your session may take anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes, average duration is about 30 minutes. Studio day is divided into hourly slots, so we’ll have plenty of time to make your look your best!

How do I book?

you can call Asya to book – 07793937192, or you can use a code BD2016 and book on line: BOOK

What backgrounds do you use?

There is a choice of either white or dark grey background.

How will I select my images?

You will receive a link to a proof sheet, so you can look at all the images from the session at your leisure and simply e-mail me the number(s) of your chosen images.

What shall I wear for the shoot?

Keeping your attire simple allows for the focus to stay on you and your expression and not draw the eye to patterns and colours in fabrics. I recommend to wear solid colours for your tops. You must have something sufficiently smart, yet appropriate for the type of business that you represent. It’s best to wear something that you would normally wear when you do business, so people would recognise you. It’s good to have a jacket or a cardigan, so you have “with” and “without it” looks. If not sure, bring a few different options and I’ll advise what will work best. I recommend having at least one change of outfits during the shoot.

What to bring to the shoot?

Apart from the changes of clothes discussed above, you may wish to bring some props/objects/outfits that represent your business, your brand or your personality. For example you can wear T-shirts with your business logos or hold a business folder in your arms, so it looks like you are going to a meeting.

What shall I do to look my best?

  • Gentlemen – Have a fresh shave or trim. Drink plenty of water two days prior to the shoot and get really good rest the night before.
  • Ladies –Unless you are extremely thin you may want to wear something that covers your upper-arms. Long- or 3/4-sleeve tops are very flattering. If you wear jewellery, aim for subtlety, and be aware of it twisting or turning. Also it’s advisable not to expose your neck too much.

It’s best if your hair is not falling down onto the sides of the face. Also, you may wish to use thicker foundation to make sure your skin looks smooth. You are welcome to bring scarves/ accessories to bring some variety to the images.

business portrait make-up artist

Penny Campbell, Mary Kay makeup artist is available during studio days. Many of my clients choose to have professional make-up done prior to the session. You would need to arrive 30 minutes prior to your booked slot (fee of £25 is payable in cash/or by card directly to Penny on the day).

I also highly recommend drinking lots of extra water for the prior two days…it will make your skin look particularly beautiful. And, of course, a good sleep does wonders too!

Can I Wear my Glasses for the shoot?

If you normally wear glasses, it’s absolutely fine to wear glasses in your shoot –however the glare on glasses can detract from your eyes in photos. I’ll do my best to minimize any possible glare.

What happens during the shoot?

I will work with you and guide you through a variety of poses taken against different backgrounds. Usually people need a bit of time to feel comfortable in front of the camera, so we will keep going until I know that you are truly relaxed and are enjoying the shoot. That’s usually when I capture the most genuine & natural expressions and beautiful smiles.

Will you retouch my images?

Yes, your images will be professionally retouched. I use a professional retouching software, that allows to make very subtle changes like smoothing your skin, brightening & sharpening your eyes, smoothing your hair, whitening your teeth, removing any spots and blemishes etc. I always make sure you still look like yourself, and the image looks natural.

Are there any restrictions on the use of my images?

You will have full copyright to your images, so you can use them across any web platforms, as well as for any printed marketing materials.

Last, but not least!

Just relax and prepare to have fun!
