Now that Christmas is over and things are getting back to normal, it’s nice to look back and reflect on this year’s festive season.
I don’t personally celebrate Christmas, due to the fact that I was brought up in the Soviet Union, where religion was pretty much forbidden and Christmas was never a recognized holiday. Nonetheless I have always been fascinated by the magic of Christmas, the whole festive atmosphere, and especially by the spirit of giving and making each other happy. I absolutely love helping to make Christmas special through my photography. This year I had a very busy November and December, and many of my photographs have been part of “surprise” gifts. Many of my clients went out of their way to plan a “secret” photo shoot, and made special effort in order to keep it quiet until Christmas day.
In the past few days I’ve been chatting with several of my clients, and to my question ” Did your mum/dad/husband like the photograph?”, I’ve heard quite a few: ” He/she was so touched, he/she nearly cried”…. The best was yesterday: “My mum loved it so much, she was in tears – I should have filmed her for you!”… That answer made my day!
I am wondering if there are other gifts have such strong impact on people? And I feel so privileged to be part for the Christmas magic by creating something that can touch peoples hearts.
