The first day at primary school is a special occasion for every child and their parents, so it is no wonder the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looked smitten when Princess Charlotte headed off to join her brother at school.
Earlier this month, the fourth-in-line to the throne began her education at Thomas’ Battersea in south London.
To celebrate the day, Prince William and Kate Middleton have released a photo of the princess with her big brother Prince George, the Daily Mail revealed.
The pair were arm-in-arm at Kensington Palace, where they reside, before they arrived at the school gates later that morning.
Like many proud parents, the couple wanted to share their special moment with the rest of the public, and released a statement saying: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a photograph of Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning.”
It went on to say: “The image was taken shortly before Their Royal Highnesses left for Thomas’s Battersea.”
In the photo, the four-year-old, who will be known as Charlotte Cambridge to teachers, was smiling confidently as she held on to her six-year-old brother.
Starting school is such an important milestone, many parents hire a family photographer in Reading to capture their children at this age, so they can hold on to the memories forever.
Indeed, the royal couple were not the only celebrities sharing loving photos of their kids on their first day at school this week, as the likes of Frankie Bridge, Kerry Katona, Holly Willoughby, Stacey Solomon, Coleen Rooney, and Ben Stokes’ wife Clare all posted images of their little ones in uniform on social media.
